Today we ran in the Special Olympics NC Torch Run 5K with my office, on Team Share. It was freezing cold and really windy but we made it. Sal was hoping to beat his last 5K time and he did, he made it in 26:53 min! I was just glad I finished, haha. My time was 41 min which was still better than I was expecting. Sal’s been in a few but this was my first 5K so I wasn’t sure what to expect but even though it was tough it was a lot of fun. Maybe next time I’ll wait until it’s warmer though. :)
Yesterday we celebrated our first Valentine’s Day together and had the most amazing dinner at The Fearrington House Restaurant. After exchanging Valentine’s Day cards and Sal giving me a dozen roses, we drove to the restaurant. I had no idea where we were going, Sal decided not to tell me until we arrived. I had heard of the restaurant but never expected this to be where he had planned for us to eat dinner. It was such an amazing meal and experience, I was completely blown away.
We had a four course meal along with four complimentary “tasting courses” that the chef sent out during the meal. We were there almost two and a half hours just savoring all the delicious food and wine. We had oysters, panna cotta, veal, scallops, chicken, steak, toffee cake, and chocolate souffle. I posted pictures and descriptions on my Foodspotting account and facebook. The food was exquisit and the service was wonderful. We were even given candy and chocolate truffles to take home after our meal and I was given a red rose. I can’t say enough good things about our dinner at The Farrington, I’d recommend it to anyone who wants an amazing gourmet experience.
Dinner was wonderful and the roses are beautiful but the best part was that we’re celebrating our first, of hopefully many more Valentine’s Days to come. The past eight and a half months have been filled with so many great experiences and we’ve made some great memories. I can’t wait to see what else life has in store for us!
Tonight we met our friends Meg, Hank, and Jess for dinner at Pepper’s Pizza. It was great meeting up with everyone and getting to hang out after a long day of work. After dinner we decided to go to Sugarland for dessert, can’t go to downtown Chapel Hill without stopping by. We got our usual, coffee and an affogato plus this time some macaroons. It was the best way to end a Monday.

Happy New Year! We had a great time celebrating with a bunch of our friends at King’s and Neptune’s last night. Our friend Hank was one of the people putting on the event and it was a lot of fun. We danced, had a champagne toast, and had our kiss at midnight.
The past year had some ups and downs for both of us, but the best part was finding each other and falling in love. We hope that 2012 brings even more joy, love, fun, craziness, laughter, and wonderful memories than last year, not just for us but for all our friends and family too!
This has been SUCH a wonderful Christmas! Sal and I went to both Bermuda Run (outside Winston-Salem) and Jacksonville to visit our families. It was a lot of driving over a couple days but it was worth it to spend the holidays with both our families. We ate a ton of great food (mostly Filipino and Portuguese of course), went to midnight mass, saw an awesome Christmas lights display, played with his nephews, and enjoyed the company of our family and friends. I’m sure this is just the first of many wonderful Christmases to come.
